Every now and then as a photographer you get a day that has great diffused light created by the right amount of cloud cover causing the sunlight to land smooth and evenly on the surrounding landscape. With birds like this Great Blue Heron, the diffused light can make colors pop and show great detail in the feathers. Though just a simple portrait, you can see how the diffused light makes this GBH just pop with color and show amazing detail in his feathers.
