Red-winged Blackbird on Seedpods

Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge - Lipsec, Delaware
October 12th, 2019
The female Red Winged Blackbird gets a bad rap as not the most ornamental bird. Not having the bright pretty colors that others do, including the male of the species. I love watching the female red wings as they fly through the water side foliage, interacting with each other, feeding on seed pods and sitting pretty for some of my captures. I love this pose on one of the seed pods and the striking contrast of dark and light colors of her feathers. Such personality.

I am in my 50's and happily married with 5 daughters from our blended family. I became interested in photography just a few short years ago, much later in life than many but my passion is strong. I started out experimenting with scenic mountain shots, landscapes, flowers and anything nature as being outside is where I am happiest.
