Atlantic Puffin Swimming
Eastern Egg Rock Island - Muscongus Bay, Maine
June 24th, 2019
I got this capture as part of a boat ride adventure out to Eastern Egg Rock Island. The island is located in outer Muscongus Bay, about 6 miles off the coast of Maine and was setup as a wildlife sanctuary specific to the Atlantic Puffin. The boat ride was adventurous as the sea and associated waves were quite high that day. I found out how hard it is to take pictures from a moving, swelling up and down boat while trying to keep your camera steady for clear, sharp pictures. This image was the only capture I was able to get that was sharp. It was still a lot of fun to get to see these amazing birds. For more information on how they brought the Atlantic Puffins back to Eastern Egg Rock Island, please visit this Audubon website article.
I am in my 50's and happily married with 5 daughters from our blended family. I became interested in photography just a few short years ago, much later in life than many but my passion is strong. I started out experimenting with scenic mountain shots, landscapes, flowers and anything nature as being outside is where I am happiest.
